Actually, Mormons do go door to door. I had a brace of 'em stop by a couple years ago. It was interesting.

So what'd they do to you, [livejournal.com profile] nayela?

O_o They do??

.. hmm.. maybe not in Alberta then???

.. Cuz I've never had a single mormon.. just a Whack of Jehovas.

((*note* An old friend of mine decided that Jehovas traveled in groups called "Whacks".. mostly because that's what he wanted to do to them.))

Nothing much. They just introduced themselves, then gave me a ten-minute-talk about how they were moving around our house, Spreading The Word, and had I ever heard about the Book of Mormon?

Yes, said I.

Would I be interested in hearing more about it? They were giving copies away, and could they come in a moment?

No, thanks, I replied, and semi-politely shut the door in their faces. Turning down a boor felt strange, but I was not in the mood to explain I'd tried doctrine once, and didn't like it.

I think I was so gobsmacked because we'd never had any Religion Salesmen, of whatever sort, turning up when I lived with my parents. But then, does one ever expect those visists?

Religious door-to-doors

My first husband, an active atheist, used to invite them in and argue for a couple of hours about their interpretation of the Bible
a) because he found it fun
and
b) as a sort of public service to the community, by keeping them off the streets for a while & away from other people's doorsteps.

Kudos to him. I simply do not like to argue, and probably least of all over matters of religion.

*grins* Besides, my apartment was a mess. I didn't want anyone in there that day.

By the way, thanks for stopping by! Should I know you?

Do we know each other?

Hi!
In answer to your last question... I don't know if we know each other or not. I'm new to livejournal and I don't really know who I know; furthermore I can't post properly or add friends because every time I log on and go into my account my computer logs me out again; all I have found I can do so far is post comments to other people.
I found you from your recent comment to lordofthewheel, who happens to be my son. I posted one to him about 3 weeks ago, and he only just found out it was from me!

*laughs* Just more proof the internet is crazy.

I met lordofthewheel at Worldcon in August, and I figured out yesterday he was our point of connection. I'll add you to my friendslist if you like--that is, if you don't mind my less-public posts full of weirdness.

At any rate, I hope your computer problems will clear themselves up soon.
